Beijing to ban small aerial vehicles flying on March 1-16

Small unmanned aerial vehicles that fly at low altitude and slow speed will be prohibited flying on purposes of sport events, advertising and recreation within a 200-km radius of Tian’anmen Square from 0:00 on March 1 to 24:00 on March 16, according to a statement released by public security departments in Beijing on February 27.

The aerial vehicles in the statement refer to the aerial equipment that fly below a height of 1,000 meters and at a speed of less than 200 kilometers per hour with a radar cross section of less than two square meters, mainly including 12 categories of light and ultra-light aircrafts (including light and ultra-light helicopters), gliders, delta wing airplanes, powered delta wing airplanes, human balloon flights (hot air balloons), airships, paragliders, powered paragliders, drones, model aeroplanes, unmanned free balloons and captive balloons.

The Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau has issued a notice to enhance the management and control of small unmanned aerial vehicles that fly at low altitude and slow speed before. Citizens and aircraft fans are asked to strictly abide by the regulations to prevent illegal flights or else they shall be punished according to law.
