The security department of Beijing Subway on Wednesday announced escalation in security check level from March 1 to 16, during which time three more security workers will be dispatched to each of the 26 key stations.
Beijing Subway runs a three-level security check mechanism that is divided into daily, fast and intensified security check. The fast security check level is mainly adopted to shorten the security check time when a station encounters a large passenger flow.
“Intensified security check level is aimed at strengthening the check of passengers and items, but usually results in more waiting time of passengers. Therefore, we adds three security workers responsible for guiding or rechecking at each of the 26 key stations to make the security check work safe and smooth,” the subway’s security department said.
In addition, the subway will also strengthen inter-regional security measures such as assigning 300 workers to patrol the section between Fuxingmen Subway Station and Jianguomen Subway Station of Line 1 as well as its public area every 15 minutes.
It is learned that Beijing Public Transportation Group has also switched itself to a higher security check level. All bus stations are required to strictly enforce the rules of 24-hour guarding and entry/exit inspection on vehicles and personnel. The bus staff is required to wear red armbands at work and intensify on-bus inspection. A total of 510 employees have been added to inspect key lines in key areas to ensure the safety of passengers.
