Political advisors raise suggestions for social, cultural development

BEIJING, March 10 (Xinhua) -- Chinese political advisors gathered Friday to raise suggestions for the nation's social and cultural development, among other topics.

Fourteen members of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee addressed a plenary meeting at the Great Hall of the People.

Political advisor Liu Changming said education quality evaluation system should be more diversified and more practices should be carried out in schools according to realities.

Li Wei called for reforming the evaluation system of science and technology and establishing classified evaluation systems to boost independent innovation, suggesting that professional third-party agencies should be employed in the evaluation process.

Cao Hongming stressed the importance of chronic disease prevention, calling for improved systems with a better role of traditional Chinese medicine in the prevention.

Yu Zhengsheng, chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, attended the plenary meeting.
